Foreign Minister of Canada François-Philippe Champagne has announced about the suspension of arms supplies to Turkey.
The minister wrote about it on Twitter.
He added that the decision has been made after several allegations that Canadian technologies are being used in Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
‘’Upon learning these allegations, I immediately directed the Global Affairs Canada to investigate these claims’’, he said, adding that ‘’I have suspended the relevant export permits to Turkey so as to allow time to further assess the situation
In line with Canada's robust export control regime and the ongoing investigation, I have suspended the relevant export permits to Turkey.
Canada calls for measures to be taken immediately to stop the violence and protect civilians.
We call on the measures to be taken immediately to stabilize the situation on the ground and reiterate that there is no alternative to a peaceful and negotiated solution to this conflict," the minister wrote.
